RBK- Football
A Brief History

The Tennessee Titans are a professional American football team based in Nashville, Tennessee. They are currently members of the Southern Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL). Previously known as the Houston Oilers, the then-Houston, Texas, team began play in 1960 as a charter member of the American Football League. The Oilers won two AFL championships before joining the NFL as part of the AFL-NFL Merger.

The team relocated to the state of Tennessee in 1997, first playing in Memphis for one season before moving to Nashville. For two seasons, they were known as the Tennessee Oilers before changing their name to Titans in 1999.

Titans Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)

Quarterback Vince Young will not be suspended for his role in an altercation at a Dallas-area strip club last month, according to The Tennessean.

The paper said the league is expected to make an announcement by the end of the week. Young was issued a citation for a misdemeanor assault for an altercation at a strip club June 20 but was not arrested.

"I pray to God that Roger Goodell doesn't come down hard on me, because I definitely want to be here for my teammates," Young said the following day. The Commissioner said he planned to talk to Young, but had indicated a suspension was unlikely for a first-time offender.

• Thankfully for the Titans, the Chris Johnson contract saga and potential holdout drama came to an end.

The Tennessee Titans have promoted Craig Johnson to assistant head coach and running backs coach. Johnson takes over for Kennedy Pola, who left the Titans for Southern California on Saturday, just five months after being hired. Pola's departure prompted the Titans to sue Southern California and Trojans coach Lane Kiffin for interfering with Pola's contract a week before training camp.
