Teams had until 5 p.m. ET Sept. 4 to reach the NFL-mandated 53-player roster limit. Here's a team-by-team look from SN's correspondents at cuts and other decisions by teams in the division: Arizona Cardinals Coach Ken Whisenhunt had many reasons for cutting former starting QB Matt Leinart. Most important, Whisenhunt didn't believe Leinart had good chemistry with other players. Whisenhunt wouldn't go into detail, but it's clear he didn't think Leinart had taken on the role of a leader.

Matt Leinart might get a second chance, but for the Arizona Cardinals he was a first-round bust. The team released Leinart on Saturday, marking another career setback for the 10th pick of the 2006 draft and the 2004 Heisman Trophy winner. Another team may sign Leinart as a backup quarterback -- perhaps the Seattle Seahawks, for whom his former college coach, Pete Carroll, is now the head coach. No. 1 overall draft pick Sam Bradford will start at quarterback in the regular-season opener at home against Arizona next weekend.
