A Brief History

The Jacksonville Jaguars are a professional American football team located in Jacksonville, Florida. They are currently members of the Southern Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL). The Jaguars, along with the Carolina Panthers, joined the NFL as expansion teams in 1995. Jacksonville is one of three teams, including the Houston Texans and the New Orleans Saints, never to have played in a Super Bowl.

Gregg Williams didn't have to tell his players how motivated he was to show up his old team. All the former Washington Redskins assistant coach had to do was crank up his renowned intensity to get the message across. "He didn't say anything about it, but we kind of knew," Jacksonville Jaguars middle linebacker Mike Peterson said.

Jaguars RG Maurice Williams sprains right knee (AP)
Jacksonville Jaguars offensive lineman Maurice Williams sprained his right knee in the second quarter of Thursday night's preseason finale against the Washington Redskins. Coach Jack Del Rio said the injury was not serious and that Williams is expected to return to practice by Wednesday. "He's going to be OK," Del Rio said after the Jaguars' 24-3 victory.
