Teams had until 5 p.m. ET Sept. 4 to reach the NFL-mandated 53-player roster limit. Here's a team-by-team look from SN's correspondents at cuts and other decisions by teams in the division: Chicago Bears The team cut its top two picks from 2009 -- defensive end Jarron Gilbert and wide receiver Juaquin Iglesias -- both of whom were third-round picks. Gilbert had two sacks and a forced fumble in the final two exhibitions but was beaten out by Henry Melton and rookie Corey Wootton.

Bears waive Afalava (AP)

The Chicago Bears have waived safety Al Afalava along with their top two draft picks last year in defensive lineman Jarron Gilbert and receiver Juaquin Iglesias. Also among the 21 players let go on Saturday as the Bears trimmed their roster to the 53-man limit were offensive lineman Josh Beekman, special teams contributor Tim Shaw and quarterback Dan LeFevour.

Report: Browns RB Montario Hardesty out for the year (SportingNews.com)

Cleveland Browns rookie running back Montario Hardesty has a torn ACL and likely will miss the entire 2010 season, ESPN reports. Hardesty injured his left knee in the second quarter of Thursday night’s game against the Chicago Bears. He’ll undergo surgery to repair the ligament and will be in recovery for about nine months, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. "I hurt my knee making a cut. I really don't know what it is. I can't say it's not frustrating," Hardesty said following the game.

Knee injury ends season for Browns rookie Hardesty (AP)

The Browns couldn't wait to see what rookie running back Montario Hardesty could do on the field. He won't be out there again this season. Hardesty tore his left anterior cruciate ligament in his NFL debut on Thursday night and will be out for the year, a cruel twist for the second-round pick, whose career has been slowed by serious knee injuries.
